Crittenden Estate

Crittenden Estate is an iconic vineyard, winery and wine centre located in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, one hour’s drive south of Melbourne.

The home vineyard, first planted in 1982, is situated on the lower northern slopes of Red Hill and has ideal conditions for growing traditional cool climate European varieties. Its ideal sandy loam soils, considerable vine age and close proximity Port Philip Bay each contribute immeasurably to the premium wine styles that the Crittenden family have become known for. Crittenden Estate is now known as one of the Mornington Peninsula’s iconic wineries and is a must visit on a winery tour agenda.

After growing up on the farm the second generation of Crittendens are now fully immersed in the running of the business. Garry Crittenden’s son Rollo is now Viticulturalist & Winemaker whilst daughter Zoe takes care of the marketing. The third generation, whilst too young to be helping in the vineyard yet, enjoy the pleasure of being surrounded by vines and dirt.

The range of wines on offer at Crittenden, all available for purchase online and at the Crittenden Wine Centre, reflect Garry and Rollo’s innovative winemaking styles. As one of the first producers in the country to embrace styles from Italy and Spain they have developed a reputation for taking an experimental approach towards their wine making. Tradition, however, also plays a large part in the production of their award winning Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from an area that is now becoming pre-eminent as one of the country’s most well reputed regions for these two styles.

Crittenden Estate is a centrally located Mornington Peninsula winery in Dromana and is within 15km of the following towns: Red Hill, Main Ridge, Balnarring, Merricks, Point Leo, Shoreham, McCrae and Rosebud.

Pig & Whistle Tavern

The popular Pig & Whistle Tavern is nestled in the hills, five minutes from Arthurs Seat. There is also located there the Bayview Estate Winery and Bayview Bed and Breakfast.

The popular Pig & Whistle Tavern, nestled in the hills, five minutes from Arthurs Seat has long been a favourite watering hole for locals and visitors alike. Shaded by tall trees, surrounded by lavender and roses, the Beer Garden is the ideal place to sit and relax with a cool drink, enjoy the view and the company of friends. You can even warm yourself by the open fireplace when the days and nights grow chilly.

The Tavern and adjoining Restaurant have always served fabulous fresh food, with hearty dishes and a wide selection of wines. The eight famous beers on tap are always popular but for those looking for something different, there is a large selection of bottled beer and spirits also available.

With the Mornington Peninsula’s beautiful sun-kissed rolling hills, it’s no wonder that people come far and wide to taste the delectable wines that the region has to offer.

This is why we’re so happy and proud to be labelled as the home of the artisanal winemakers of the Bayview Estate Winery. Located just behind the Tavern and Beer Gardens, be sure to explore the lesser known but equally important pride and joy of the premises.

Whether you’re just stopping by to have a stroll through the beautiful vineyards or simply sampling the stunning Pinot Grigio at the rustic Cellar Door, we warmly invite you to join us in our love for a good glass (or two!) of proudly locally-made wine.

Nestled snugly behind the Pig & Whistle Tavern on the Bayview Estate Winery property, the Bayview Bed & Breakfast boasts a standard of luxury for even the most discerning traveller. With panoramic views of the Bayview Estate vineyard and the rolling hills of the Mornington Peninsula, the venue’s central location in Main Ridge makes it the perfect base for guests who wish to explore the beauty of southern Victoria.

Offering 2 separate living areas including 2 kitchens and 3 bathrooms, the facility has a sleeping capacity of 10 guests within 4 double bedrooms. Large HD television, full laundry facilities, billiard table, swimming pool, open fire place, reverse cycle AC in most rooms are just some of the many features of this magnificent residence; not to mention being able to take full advantage of the dining and entertainment facilities at the Pig & Whistle Tavern.
