Cherries Pick Your Own & Farm Gate Seasonal Fruit at Red Hill

The Ripe ‘n’ Ready Cherry Farm at 52 Arkwells Lane in Red Hill, is owned and operated by two generations of the Easy family, who planted the orchard back in 1947 on 24 acres of lush, Red Hill countryside. These days, Eric and Simon Easy’s farm is one of the Peninsula’s biggest and best cherry producers. The love that has gone into cultivating the orchard is evident in the lush quality of the fruit. With over 70 varieties of cherries, there is a delicious variety for every jam, ice cream, cake, sauce or fruit bowl.

Craft Markets Australia

Markets Near and Far.

In 1974, four couples at a dinner party in Red Hill shared a romantic original idea of a market for local people to sell or barter their seasonal produce, as well as providing an outlet for crafts and foods.

Carole Stapleton and Cathy Thompson, two of the directors, were at that dinner. The idea took hold and over months of discussion, the concept of a market where people had to have made, cooked or grown whatever they wanted to sell or barter evolved.

The initial advertising was mainly through screenprinted posters nailed to trees and power poles all over the area. It worked. In September 1975 the first market took place with 28 enthusiastic stallholders at the Red Hill Mechanics Hall.

Our cherry season starts mid- November and goes through to mid-January. Sour Morello cherries are available from late December to mid-January. Also available for purchase, Cherry Port/Desert Wine so you can enjoy the taste of our cherries all year round. So come and enjoy the fun of picking fresh cherries from trees that are maintain at a low height so everybody can easily reach them. Enjoy Mother Nature at her best producing beautiful tasting cherries fully ripened on the trees.
