Crittenden Estate

Crittenden Estate is an iconic vineyard, winery and wine centre located in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, one hour’s drive south of Melbourne.

The home vineyard, first planted in 1982, is situated on the lower northern slopes of Red Hill and has ideal conditions for growing traditional cool climate European varieties. Its ideal sandy loam soils, considerable vine age and close proximity Port Philip Bay each contribute immeasurably to the premium wine styles that the Crittenden family have become known for. Crittenden Estate is now known as one of the Mornington Peninsula’s iconic wineries and is a must visit on a winery tour agenda.

After growing up on the farm the second generation of Crittendens are now fully immersed in the running of the business. Garry Crittenden’s son Rollo is now Viticulturalist & Winemaker whilst daughter Zoe takes care of the marketing. The third generation, whilst too young to be helping in the vineyard yet, enjoy the pleasure of being surrounded by vines and dirt.

The range of wines on offer at Crittenden, all available for purchase online and at the Crittenden Wine Centre, reflect Garry and Rollo’s innovative winemaking styles. As one of the first producers in the country to embrace styles from Italy and Spain they have developed a reputation for taking an experimental approach towards their wine making. Tradition, however, also plays a large part in the production of their award winning Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from an area that is now becoming pre-eminent as one of the country’s most well reputed regions for these two styles.

 

Crittenden Estate is a centrally located Mornington Peninsula winery in Dromana and is within 15km of the following towns: Red Hill, Main Ridge, Balnarring, Merricks, Point Leo, Shoreham, McCrae and Rosebud.

Our cellar door is open from 11am-5pm 7 days a week.

Our philosophy in everything we do is to make the most of top quality ingredients. Intensive, hands-on care in the vineyard, with minimal use of chemicals, produces the best possible fruit for our wines. Wild yeast ferments and minimal intervention winemaking, with a nod to traditional Burgundian techniques, allow our wines to express their site specificity, or terroir. Similarly, we aim to source ingredients for the food we serve that are seasonal, local and organic.
